Security and video surveillance
Theia offers ultra wide angle lenses without distortion as well as telephoto lenses for CCTV video security and megapixel IP video surveillance applications. The lenses are all multi megapixel resolution and many are also IR corrected for Day/Night cameras. Theia's wide angle lenses incorporate patented Linear Optical Technology® that allows optical distortion correction in the lens, without the need for dewarping software.
The improved resolution at the edges of the image (compared to typical lenses with barrel distortion) allow lobby, office, and other spaces with limited ceiling height to be effectively monitored with video surveillance using Theia's ultra wide angle lens. Theia's lenses offer an alternative for the installer to reduce costly installation and maintenance of multi-camera systems. A megapixel IP camera with Theia's widest angle SY125 lens can cover up to 135° field of view. Theia also offers a 120° fixed focal length SY110 lens and ultra wide varifocal SL183 lenses that allow optimization of the wide field of view.
Theia's new SL940 telephoto lenses are useful for longer distance, and less obtrusive surveillance. They allow the camera to be placed far from the observation point. Like the ultra wide lenses, this lens can be used on cameras up to five megapixels.

Theia's SL940 telephoto lens has been used in many license plate recognition systems. Shown here is a picture in a parking lot comparing day and night operation. According to Thomas Keyes, of Sourced Security Solutions, "The IR correction at night with almost any lens other than the 9-40 by Theia has a washed out picture. I love the lens, it is the only one I can depend on to give me sharp images day or night and under IR lighting for getting plates."

A small office space or interrogation or holding room in a police station or prison can be seen using any of Theia's ultra wide lenses. These lenses offer greater than 90° vertical field of view in addition the ultra wide horizontal field of view to eliminate any blind spots in the room. The example office picture shows a 24'x28' office from 9 feet above the floor using Theia's SY125 lens.

Large common areas of Universities, Colleges, and Schools can be monitored with few cameras, saving on installation and maintenance costs. Theia's SY125, SY110, and SL183 ultra wide lenses can cover large areas while Theia's SL940 telephoto can monitor in high detail door and hallway entrances.

Large areas like warehouses can be effectivly monitored with a few 5 megapixel cameras. This reduces the installation cost of installing multiple cameras with less field of view and allows digital PTZ without reducing the recorded field of view of the camera. The warehouse picture is from 20 feet above the floor, also using Theia's widest angle SY125 lens.

Overhead view of a row of checkout stands at a grocery store from 8' ceiling. From this low ceiling, multiple check stands can be monitored. The camera could be mounted above the check stands or in front of the cashier. In both locations, the cashier, customer, and bagger, in multiple lanes can be monitored.

Theia's optical distortion correction in the SY125, SY110, and SL183 lenses using Linear Optical Technology® allows the edges of the image to have high resolution. This gives the camera the ability to monitor both sides of the light rail car at the same time with much better resolution that a typical fisheye lens.

Video surveillance of a large parking lot. This image was taken from the top of a 4 story building. The entire lot can be monitored with Theia's ultra wide SY125 lens. With the addition of a SL940 telephoto lens for watching the lot entrances, cars can be monitored as they move around the parking lot as well as collecting detailed imaging of the car and driver.

Many aisles in a retail storecan be monitored simutaneously, reducing the visible presence of video cameras and reducing the anxiety of customers who don't like to see too many video cameras.

Multiple train and bus platform entrances can be monitored in a controlled access platform from a single camera so security personel can capture images of passengers entering and exiting the platform. Theia's wide angle lenses make good overview images and can be used in addition to a fixed telephoto like Theia's SL940, digital PTZ software allowing up to 16X zoom, or a dedicated PTZ camera.

Monitoring an area from a corner is possible with Theia's wide angle lenses. From one camera, both walls can be seen as well as >90° vertical field of view. The SY110 and SL183 lenses are best suited for corner camera applications.

One of Theia's ultra wide angle lenses with a high megapixel camera makes a good overview image for mall parking lots. It can be used in combination with digital PTZ, Theia's SL940 fixed zoom telephoto lens, or another pan-tilt-zoom camera to zoom in on areas of interest.
